Niles West High School is gearing up for the June 11th "Relay For Life Of Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove & Niles." Relay for Life is the country's largest fundraiser and is dedicated to eradicating cancer.  Teams will take turns walking or running around the track.

The Village of Skokie Health Department will host a nicotine addiction seminar on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. The seminar, to be held at 5127 Oakton Street, and is free of charge. Advanced registration is required. 

 

The nicotine addiction seminar offers tips for quitting smoking, which may be all that is necessary for those who are ready to quit.

National Burn Awareness Week

 

National Burn Awareness Week is the first full week of February. Each year, approximately 114,000 children under age 14 are treated for fire and burn injuries and 500 children die to unintentional fire and burn-related injuries. Scald burns that are caused by hot liquid or steam are the most common cause of burn injuries to children.

Skokie's "Carrier Watch Program" Reassures Seniors, Disabled They'll Be Missed

The Village of Skokie Human Services Division invites seniors and persons with disabilities to sign up for the "Carrier Watch" program.

 

Carrier Watch authorizes post carriers to notify the Human Services Division if a resident's mail has not been removed from their mail box after two days. The Human Services Division will notify the senior's designated emergency contact.
