During the last several decades, Skokie received the largest number of new immigrants and refugees of any community in the Chicago metropolitan area. The countries of birth most heavily represented in Skokie are: Former Soviet Union (Russia & Ukraine) 13.4% India 11.3% Philippines 10.2% Korea 8.5% Iraq 6.1%
