New Law Dramatically Hikes Visa Fees, Spurs Protests

A new law that calls for steep hikes in fees for H-1B and L visas has spurred protests from Indian and American businesses and prompted the Indian government to warn that trade ties with the United States may be affected. In a bid to raise money to secure the nation's southern border with Mexico, Congress on Aug. 12 approved the bill that focuses on visas for skilled workers coming from overseas.

Winterize Your Health: Schedule Flu Shot From Skokie Health Dept.

 

This year the national Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended that all persons over the age of six months receive a flu vaccination every year. 

 

During September and October the Skokie Health Department will offer free flu shots to any interested Skokie resident over the age of six months by appointment only!  Appointments will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Illinois gets $1 M for health insurance rate review

The Illinois Department of Insurance has been awarded a $1 million federal grant to put more muscle into its review of health insurance premium increases.

Backlot Bash Theme Song

The 6th Annual Ride and Stride for Wishes takes place August 29th at the Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center.

The Village of Skokie has a new emergency telephone notification system to contact residents and businesses quickly in the case of an emergency.

 

The CodeRED system will send out automated telephone messages quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency.    The message will provide you with the emergency situation and any important instructions in situations regarding:
