Dale Vogler READS!

Dale Vogler, Pricipal of Niles West High School, tells why THE WORLD IS FLAT is an important book. In the book The THE WORLD IS FLAT, Friedman addresses how individuals will constantly have to upgrade their skills in order to meet the challenges of a changing economy. He stated that in the past, mediocrity in a job was common place. He feels that in the future, if one does not have the desire to learn new skills, they will be left behind; whole nations will be left behind. Friedman made it clear that whole nations could suffer if their people do not strive to meet the needs of our changing world. This is an important message for educators. This book supports what we already know: teach children how to learn rather than what to learn. This will help them to be able to acquire new skills and learn new information as needed.
