CTA Announces Second Open House On Yellow Line Extension
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) expects to hold a second public Open House in late winter/early spring on the extension of the Yellow Line. The agency welcomes suggestions for meeting locations within the boundaries of Old Orchard Road on the north, Dempster Streeet on the south, Skokie Boulevard on the east and Harms Road on the west.
The CTA encourages the public to visit www.transitchicago.com to view presentation materials, community feedback and community responses.
At a previous meeting on the proposed extension, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen said the project is important for the future of the Skokie.
One proposal involves extending the rail line from Dempster St. to Old Orchard Rd. with either a bus or a bus/rail option for additional trasportation. Another proposal includes adding a downtown Skokie Swift station. Both plans would provide transportation to people who frequent Westfield Old Orchard, Rush North Shore Medical Center, Niles North High School, the Cook County Court facility and National-Louis University.
