Donating Your Hair
Submitted by Anonymous on May 31, 2008 - 12:08pm.
I have been growing out my hair long, chopping it off and growing it back again for most of my life. This was always a pattern for me. Recently my best friend passed away from cancer, and I wanted to do something in honor of her. I realized that every time I had been growing out my hair and having it cut off, I could have been donating it to organizations who make wigs for those who have lost their hair to cancer.
For the past year and a half I grew out my hair with the sole purpose of donating it. On May 3rd I had over 10 inches cut off. I decided to send it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. They are a fairly new organization for hair donation and only require 8 inches of hair. It was a great feeling to know that I am helping others just by letting my hair grow. This donation was in memory of my dear friend, and I plan to donate again in the future.
If you are interested in contributing to this cause, you can visit Pantene Beautiful Lengths at www.beautifullengths.com or Locks of Love at www.locksoflove.org for more information.
