Few in the world know of Gangjin County, but many will know the area's most famous artistic accomplishment - the famed blue celadon of the Goryeo Dynasty.

The Village of Skokie will offer a monthly Immigrant Information Series focusing on issues that are important to immigrant residents. All workshops will be held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street from 7 to 8:30pm on the first Monday of each month from May 2008 to January 2009.

Explore and celebrate the contributions of Korean Americans to our country with musical and other cultural performances and a movie, sponsored by the Keumsil Cultural Society

According to the most recent census data, more than 21% of Skokie's residents are of Asian descent. Of those residents listing themselves as foreign-born, 53% came from Asia.

Oakton Community College offers free Learn to Read to Learn classes at its campus in Skokie and at several libraries in the area. Classes are offered several times a year.

Korean Traditional Fashion (Hanbok) and Culture Show Models will show traditional Korean dress and accessories and explain the significance of the types of dress in history and culture, including fashions from the Chosun Dynasty of six hundred years ago, especially the clothing of royalty and officials, and modern Korean fashions. Korean music and two dancers from Korea will also be featured.
